our land
Brass Bell Farm operates on 100% leased land. We are grateful to partner with land owners who support our farming initiatives and see the benefits of keeping their land in production. We live and farm in beautiful East Sooke, BC and collaborate with chefs, butchers and cheesemakers on the South Island and Cowichan Valley.
We currently farm two main parcels, one of which is focused on livestock production, and the other is home to our box program headquarters and vegetable production. Over the years we have learned how to read the land and match it with the production style or species that it is best suited for, or will benefit from most. We do not use any sprays or pesticides on our pastures, instead targeting problematic weeds and conditions with livestock and strategic grazing practices.
our animals
Heritage breeds have always been our passion, and we have worked with many over the years. We currently keep sheep, cattle, pigs and poultry with our East Friesian dairy sheep being the main focus of our operation. All of our animals are raised on pasture, and those who require grain are fed a certified organic ration.
The majority of our animals are raised for our own programs, and therefore we do not generally have livestock for sale.
